About the Vitality Advisory CoUncil

The Vitality Advisory Council of Oceano (VACO) focuses on the Oceano/Halcyon area within the boundaries of the Oceano Community Services District, as defined by the San Luis Obispo County Local Agency Formation Commission.

Our board is dedicated to fostering public awareness, education, and engagement in planning and community development. We facilitate public hearings, forums, studies, and opportunities for community input on matters that impact Oceano and Halcyon.

Our Role and Responsibilities

VACO reviews and provides input on development and land use matters, including:

  • Public services
  • Traffic circulation
  • Infrastructure and public improvements
  • Orderly community growth based on adopted governmental plans

We serve as a collective voice for Oceano/Halcyon, offering recommendations to the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors. Our role includes submitting public comments on projects affecting the community and advising county agencies on whether to approve, deny, support, or oppose initiatives.

Our Commitment to the Community

VACO is composed of dedicated residents and business owners who are passionate about preserving and enhancing the quality of life in Oceano and Halcyon. As volunteers, we take a hands-on approach, encouraging inclusive participation to ensure all voices are heard.

Guided by the Oceano Revitalization Plan, developed with input from residents and SLO County Planning, we focus on improvements that foster a more vibrant, pedestrian-friendly downtown along Highway 1.

Get Involved

We welcome and value community input! Your participation strengthens our collective vision and helps shape the future of Oceano and Halcyon. Together, we can build a thriving and connected community.

Join us in making a difference!
